- Wow! I’ve never seen this shade of beige before! How have I missed it! I must add it to my inventory!
- This particular shade of beige brings out the beige flecks in my eyes.
- Beige - the color of honest and manly men.
- It would be nice if this beige was accented by a darker-beige windowpane plaid; then I’d buy it.
- I’m looking for a specific shade of beige - think cooked-just-right pizza crust or the inside of an overly-ripe pear. Perfect!
- Why Lisa, you labor under the misimpression that I have this shirt at home. I do not. The beige one at home has long sleeves and a blue window-pane plaid. This one, while it has long sleeves, has two-button cuffs, not one, and a light-blue windowpane plaid.
- Maybe I should paint the walls the same shade of beige as my shirts.
- Did Costco sign a contract with the Beige Shirt Company? Maybe I can contact the company directly and cut-out the middleman!

You are hysterical.
Sometimes it’s hard to stray from that level of comfort that can be found in beige…
Have you noticed how some companies are naming colors after people? To get away from the various shades of the same color?
Maybe start calling beige, “Bob” or “Hank” and it’ll get him to stop.
I wear a lipstick called “Natasha”. Meoww.

What’s so funny? Those are not proper thoughts?

Mae:
Does Mark wear beige! I hope not, as he has my coloring, therefore he is a “Spring,” and looks best in coral and turquoise.
You’re funny. “Natasha?” Hmmm. . I wonder what my favorite lipstick name is. It has to be “Blonde Venus.”

You march yourself over to Banana Republic, find yourself a nice gay salesman, and get yourself some proper clothes (these were the instructions of my friend MCS to her husband, Bill, who is now properly outfitted).

Mark does not wear beige. I think maybe his mom told him not to. He did wear a lot of mandarin collars there for a while. I had to tell him to stop. Just stop. So I called up my uncle who is a manager at Brooks Brothers and hooked Mark up. We still get great discounts and we get the women in my family to pick the colors (they need something to do). It’s dreamy for them to dress up a nice blonde boy.

Hilarious that your family picks out his colors. Do they have little nicknames for him (e.g. Blondie, etc??).
My best friend through law school was Mexican - seriously, she was born in Mexico and didn’t move to the U.S. until she was 18 - and she had little nicknames for me like paleface, etc.

Keep in mind the women in my family also have a case of the cheaps. So, sometimes it comes down to what’s on sale “Would Mahkie like a light greenish plaid or bright yellow plaid?”
Mark walks on water as far as my family is concerned so there are no fun nicknames to date. The fact that he married me (the “after Christmas sale” - was my mom’s nickname for me as I married at age 30)…they’re just so happy that he’s a kind, geeky, very white, guy…even if he blisters up in the sun.

That was so cute. I’ve been recently introduced to Monk-as-played-by-Tony-Shalhoub (who used to live down the hill from me in a truly charming cottage which made me like him VERY much). Is Leezer’s husband Monk-like?
(I stupidly rented a Monk book from the library and was seriously disappointed in the writing. I wish you’d take over Monk-novel-duties.)

Cris:
Did you meet Tony Shalhoub? I loved him as Antonio in “Wings.”
No, my husband isn’t Monk-like in the sense he has no obsessive compulsive tendencies EXCEPT he has no/little tolerance for messes of any kind except his own. This double standard I find very hard to take. Especially his intolerance of messes left by kids and animals. Very generally speaking, my husband is a person who has left very little margin of error in his psyche for life’s inaccuracies - whether intentional or negligent. He is an engineer, and he can’t abide by a paucity of answers. I thrive on open-ended and mysterious uncertainties.

and is he still encouraged to shop for his own shirts?
